More about Jacksonville

Jacksonville is a city in the state of Florida in Duval County in the United States of America and is the administrative center of the County.

Jacksonville is home of the county administration. The city is with 821.784 inhabitants the most populous city in Florida and at the same time with 2264.5 km ² in area the largest city in the continental USA. The city is located directly on the Atlantic Ocean in northeastern of Florida and is located near the border with Georgia. In the metropolitan area are an population of about 1.35 million people. Jacksonville is often officially abbreviated as "Jax".

Jacksonville is predominantly industrial. This thanks the city in particular  the industrial port, which is one of the main shipping ports for automobiles in the United States. The port also serves as a base of the U.S. Navy. But this fact has been found to the chagrin of the automotive industry. Military shipping has in the port priority, which is the main reason why for example Daimler treats the importation of its vehicles for the South-Eastern region since 2009 in nearby Brunswick. The St. Johns River flows near Jacksonville in the Atlantic. The harbor is actually in the St. Johns River.
