Jacksonville and the port

The Port of Jacksonville, a seaport on the St. Johns River, is a large component of the local economy. Approximately 50,000 jobs in Northeast Florida are related to port activity and the port has an economic impact of $2.7 billion in Northeast Florida:
  • Port wages and salaries = $1.3 billion
  • Business revenue = $743 million
  • Local purchases = $239.1 million
  • State and local taxes = $119.3 million
  • Customs revenue = $258 million
